Item description

Since 1990, I have enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios and vintage audio.... all items I list will be exactly as described and packed extra well to ensure a safe delivery.. buy with confidence ! Ask any and all questions BEFORE buying! BUYER is responsible for doing their own research to ensure they are buying the correct radio parts for their project. Once purchased, the order will NOT be canceled for any reason, and there are NO RETURNS! BUYER is responsible for their application and how they use these parts! DO NOT BUY unless you understand this is a committed purchase! For sale is the walnut veneer CABINET salvaged from a Wells Gardner tube radio that had too many electronic issues to restore. I spent hours sanding the cabinet smooth, and had planned on finding a 6A43 chassis or parts radio but just don't have the time to pursue with all my audio projects. I didn't apply any refinishing liquids/chemicals...so buyer can do that as they like (eg tung oil, stain, etc). Naturally, the cabinet finish will darken up, with luster, and look much nicer once some type of finishing chemical is applied (sometimes I just use lemon oil). I did not sand the solid wood speaker grille/cover piece that is held into front opening by pure friction... needs to be hand sanded. There are a couple of thin line areas where I sanded too deep and went thru the veneer... mainly along the top seam/edge, where the top plate/piece joins the top of main cabinet, in front and right side. They can be touched up with either stain, a brown sharpie or any method buyer wants to use... The areas are pretty thin and once restored, should not be distracting. If radio cabinet ever had any small feet, they were missing... I attached 4 small plastic/rubber feet with screws to give cab more even support. I have 2 of the 4 bottom bolts washers that installed radio chassis to underside of cabinet, and will include if buyer needs them. The original speaker is still installed. I could not test it since radio was shot, but chances are, it probably works fine. Inspecting the back side of cone, I can only see 1 very tiny hole, that's near the outer rim of cone. It's small enough that it could be mended with some type of adhesive, like speaker surround glue (I use Alene's Tacky Glue from WalMart). If someone has a WG, 6A43 radio with a rough or trashed cabinet... this one is mostly ready to make a nice replacement. Buyer will need to hand sand the wood speaker grille, and maybe do a little light sanding to finish this up, and touch up the few areas that got sanded thru the veneer. If buyer needs them, I have a few extra parts from the radio (knobs, dial scale glass, dial pointer) in separate listings. If other parts bought I can combine shipping. Ask any and all questions BEFORE buying! After buyer has left positive feedback to acknowledge everything OK, I will immediately return the favor.
