Vintage Fisher Price Play Family #930 Garage Complete plus BONUS/EXC ++! (S)
Vintage Fisher Price Play Family #930 Garage Complete + Bonus/EXC -EXC+ (S) (More photos below)
Here's a CLASSIC play set, Fisher Price's Little People Play Family Action Garage (#930) that is 100% complete and in EXC- EXC+ condition! This play set captured the hearts and minds of many preschool youngsters. I've configured this offering to coincide with Fisher Price's 1973 production run. I have also added four extra Little People and four more cars to add to the number of open-ended play opportunities.
After repeated close inspections, I can only detect the following flaws on the EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos:
1. Some light soiling on the # 2 Parking lot litho; I am not sure whether or not this will come off during the cleaning process; in any event, it is extremely minor in nature;
2. One, @ 3 3/4" L x 1/8" W hairline crease to the right of the red carousel on the brown litho and #4 Parking lot litho; this definitely does not detract from the overall appearance and functioning of this piece;
3. A light water stain on the sidewalk litho to the left of the elevator shaft; I just now noticed this; I don't even know if my photos captured this; you really have to be looking for it to see it; I may be able to minimize this during the cleaning process;
4. One, pin-head size brown spot on the far right hand side of the Service Center litho; you literally have to be holding the base up within 3" of your eyes and rotate it in the light to see this;
5. Some moderate soiling and a couple of small rubs on the litho at the bottom of the elevator shaft; I will be removing all of this dirt during the cleaning process;
6. One, 1/8" in diameter white spot on the brown litho above and to the right of the pond litho; I do not know whether this will come off during the cleaning process;
7. Light soiling on the brown litho covering the masonite base; this will be eradicated during the cleaning process; and
8. Two small brown spots on the exterior trim of the grease pit litho; this may or may not come off during the cleaning process.
I know this sounds horrendous but I'm being super "nit-picky" here because I do not want to disappoint any of my customers. With the possible exception of the water stain to the left of the elevator shaft and the brown spots on the edge of the grease pit litho, you really have to search hard to find these other noted imperfections. In general, I would categorize these lithos as being in EXC+++ condition. Both gas pump lithos, Service Center Department, the pond, and remaining lithos on the Masonite base are in NEAR MINT condition.
THESE ARE ALL THE ORIGINAL LITHOS. I DO NOT USE REPLACEMENT LITHOS ON MY SETS. IF A LITHO IS MISSING OR DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY, I OCCASIONALLY OFFER THE BUYER A REPLACEMENT LITHO. HOWEVER, I DO NOT APPLY THESE LITHOS MYSELF. I LEAVE IT TOTALLY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE BUYER WHETHER THEY WISH TO UTILIZE THESE. I DO NOT FEEL ANY REPLACEMENT LITHOS ARE WARRANTED ON THIS BASE---THE ORIGINAL LITHOS ARE INTACT AND FULL OF THEIR ORIGINAL COLORATION.
The plastic surfaces are generally in remarkable condition! Other than some light-moderate soiling, several light brown marks on the pillars near the pond litho, two white marks on either side of the gas pump, and a possible melt mark on the right side of the elevator shaft, these surfaces are pristine (EXC++-NEAR MINT)! I just now double checked to see if the brown marks would come off during the cleaning process using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I'm happy to report they're now gone. The aforementioned "melt mark" measures @ 1" L x 1/2" W. I honestly have no idea what caused this. I basically spotted it by touch and in my photos. It's unlike anything I've ever seen before with one of these sets. I have gone over this set with a "fine-toothed comb" and there are no cracks, breaks, repairs, "dings," or chips on any of these plastic surfaces. The colors are bright and glossy and look BRAND NEW!
The elevator, stop signs, bell, and carousel wheel all operate as designed. The elevator occasionally "hitches" when the handle is cranked. I will be addressing this by cleaning the plastic belt that powers the elevator to go up and down. It should work fine once I've cleaned this belt.
Three of the four corners of the Masonite base are intact and free of any cracking, layering, smushing etc. Note: The corner next to the front of the elevator shaft exhibits some minor layering. I will be repairing this with some Rubber Cement so it should not cause any future problems.
UPDATE: I just accidently knocked into this layered corner while wrapping another set for shipping. The top layer of the masonite base has broken off. I have all the pieces and I will be re-securing this with Rubber Cement and a sturdy clamp. It should be fine once I've apply the Rubber Cement and stabilize the corner why it is drying. It should not pose any further problems. I have lowered my overall rating of this set from EXC- EXC++ to EXC-EXC+.
The underneath side of the masonite base exhibits several large stains; these do not appear to be water stains. I have no idea what caused them. Despite their presence, they are not visible while the toy is in play or on display. Finally, the bell has some minor pitting, dulling, and scratching along with a tiny amount of rust. I will be applying some Naval Jelly to remove this rust and brighten up the bell's surface appearance.
The gas pump nozzle displays some minor scuffs but no "nibbles," or chews.
To accompany this great play base, I've included the following accessories to comply with the 1973 Fisher Price specifications (source = www.thisoldtoy.com):
1 HTF garage lift w/litho (NEAR MINT-MINT; while the crank moves the lift up and down, it is sometimes difficult to move; I will be correcting this during the cleaning process. It will work smoothly after I finish cleaning it;
1 RARE blue/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the hood and wheels of the car (VG+--the wheel caps show some rust; I believe they will brighten up considerably following an application of Naval Jelly and a gentle buffing; once this is done, this car will warrant a NEAR MINT rating);
1 VHTF green/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the hood and wheels of the car (VG+--some light scuffing on the area behind the passenger seat; also, like the blue/white car, the wheel caps exhibit some rust; I will be applying Naval Jelly to diminish this rust; once this is done, this vehicle will warrant a VG++ rating);
1 VHTF red/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the wheels (VG+--once again, there is rust on the wheel caps; I will be attempting to remove this; if I'm successful, this car will garner a NEAR MINT rating); and
1 VHTF yellow/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the wheels (VG+--light surface scratches on hood and trunk of the car along with some tiny indentations on the outer rims of a couple of the tires; as expected for a car this age, it too displays rusty wheel caps; I will be addressing this with Naval Jelly; once this is done, the car should be in VG++-EXC condition);.
Check out the vibrant colors on all of these cars. Other than their rusty wheel caps and a few light surface scratches, they have led a "charmed" life with no fading, "dings," abrasions, scuffs etc. It's hard to believe these cars are 33 years young!
The 1973 version of the Garage originally came with the following WOOD/plastic Little People:
1 VHTF, blue bodied girl with blonde bangs and pigtails (MINTY MINT--pigtails firmly attached);
1 RARE, green bodied boy with red heat stamped hair (EXC-EXC++--minor paint loss consistent with age);
1 RARE, yellow bodied frowning boy with freckles and red cap facing forwards (EXC--EXC++--some minor wear on the bottom of the piece; the paint has not been displaced; hat brim looks great!); and
1 RARE, red bodied, African American boy with black heat stamped hair (MINT).
To add to the number of open-ended play opportunities and to diffuse any potential sibling disputes over the cars etc., I'm equipping this set with four additional single seater cars and four more all plastic Little People; these consist of:
1 RARE white/blue single seat car without FP being written on the wheels (VG++-EXC--some light scratches on the hood and trunk of the car along with some dulling on the wheel caps; I believe the wheel caps will brighten considerably following an application of Naval Jelly; the scratches will also be minimized following the introduction of Armor All wipes and a gentle buffing; following these procedures, this car should warrant an EXC rating);
1 HTF white/yellow single seat car without FP being written on the wheels (VG+--some light surface scratches along with some rust on the wheel caps; once again, I believe some Naval Jelly will help to alleviate this rust; once this is accomplished, this car will garner an EXC rating);
1 HTF white/green single seat car without FP being written on the wheels (VG+--some rust on one wheel cap; this should be minimized with an application of Naval Jelly; once removed, this car should deserve a NEAR MINT rating);
1 HTF white/red single seat car without FP being written on the wheels (EXC--some minor scratches near the gas gap; wheel caps are free of any dulling or rust);
1 HTF red bodied girl with blonde bangs and bob (EXC--light wear around the bottom rim and middle of the piece);
1 HTF yellow bodied boy with red heat stamped hair (VG++-hint of a few tiny scratches and shallow indentations suggesting a child's errant tooth; to discern these, you literally have to hold the piece up within 3" of your eyes and rotate it in the light; otherwise, they are not visible);
1 HTF green bodied girl with rust sculpted hair and freckles (EXC++-NEAR MINT--pin-head size rub to edge of both eyes; difficult to see);
1 blue bodied girl with blonde sculpted hair (VG++-EXC-one tiny indentation in between her eyes; this was probably caused by a child's tooth; also some minor edge wear around the middle of the piece).
This is a high quality set and one that is sure to please either an beginning Fisher Price collector or some lucky child.
I WILL BE Q-TIP CLEANING THIS PLAY SET AND ALL OF ITS ACCESSORIES PRIOR TO SENDING IT ON TO ITS NEW OWNERS. I SPEND ANYWHERE FROM 1 1/2-5 1/2 HOURS CLEANING EACH AND EVERY VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAY SET THAT I SELL--EXCEPT FOR THOSE CLEARLY MARKED IN MY ROUGH ROOM. My play sets are IMMACULATE!
NOTE: THIS VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAY SET IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT RECALL OF FISHER PRICE TOYS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. THIS VINTAGE TOY WAS PRODUCED IN THE GOOD OLD U.S.A. 33 YEARS AGO.
DUE TO SOME SMALL PARTS, THIS PLAY SET SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE OR TO THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE STILL MOUTHING THEIR TOYS. ADULT SUPERVISION IS SUGGESTED UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
This set weighs approximately 6 - 6 1/2 lbs. UNWRAPPED. My zip code is 47905 (INDIANA). Due to its size, it will require an over-sized box. I will probably be shipping this set via Fed Ex Home Delivery. I will need a residential address, not a P.O. Box, and a contact phone number (e.g. home, cell, or work place) to complete Fed Ex's paperwork. Otherwise, they will not accept the package for shipment.
See my other listings for more great items!
Possible (?) melt mark on side of elevator shaft. Uncertain what caused this as there doesn`t appear to be any remnants of burning present.
Preferred payment is via PayPal. Payment is expected within 5 business days.
The price listed is for the item itself. The total amount due will be the purchase price of the item + the ACTUAL shipping cost to deliver your item to you. All shipping costs or extra fees (in the case of Canadian shipments) are the responsibility of the buyer. I will do everything in my power to find you the cheapest shipping rate—-whether it’s the USPS (First Class or Priority), Fed Ex, or UPS. I DO NOT PAD MY SHIPPING COSTS—-NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL! I SHIP WITHIN 48 HOURS OF A CLEARED PAYMENT.
I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. I’ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account. In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item.
Since Bonanza's shipping calculator often over-estimates the Fed Ex shipping charges. PLEASE be assured I refund any shipping overcharges in excess of $1.00. Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required.
I’m more than willing to combine multiple purchases into one box whenever it is safe to do so to decrease your shipping costs. PLEASE contact me and wait to check out until I can combine your purchases on ONE INVOICE. If you pay for these items separately, I get charged multiple transaction fees by PayPal and Bonanza plus you get over-charged on your shipping. Of course, I will refund you any amount over $1.00 that you've overpaid on shipping. However, it's easier on both of us if you wait until I can send you the correct amount.
I’m more than happy to ship selected play sets to Canada. Remember that shipping to Australia can be quite expensive so please contact me for a shipping quote before you purchase an item. I will attempt to find the cheapest shipping rate possible. Also, Canadian customers will be responsible for any brokerage fees, Custom’s duties, or VAT’s imposed by your governments. I am not responsible for these charges. Insurance is required for all international shipments.
Last, but not least, I offer a 10% discount for orders totaling $125.00 or more.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED. I have attempted to bring any noted "imperfections" to your attention prior to your purchasing the item. However, I'm only human. If I have missed something or you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me prior to leaving feedback.
