This is an original work of art depicting what looks to me like a boat on the shore of a coastal landscape (see photos). The painting is painted on canvas (see photos). The painting is framed (see photos). This is an original work of art oil painting painted in a Modernist Abstract Expressionist style (see photos). The painting is signed by the artist: Stanislav Stacha Halpern who was an artist from Poland, Ukraine and Australia (see photos). The painting is signed by the artist on the front and it is dated for 1962. The item also has Gallery Exhibition labels on the back of the canvas (see photos). The gallery label is from the Galerie Blumenthal S.A. Paris, France (see photos). This item is a part of an estate liquidation. The painting framed measures about 12 inches high and it is about 19 inches wide. The painting portion with out the frame measures 9.5 inches high and it is about 16 inches wide. The picture frame has minimal wear (see photos). The painting has 4 small holes, some small paint chip losses and some wear (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item). LOCATION: YB AA-00001 Here is some information about this well listed artist: Stanislav "Stacha" Halpern (Born in Ukraine 20 October 1919 ? Passed in Australia 28 January 1969) was a Polish Australian painter and sculptor. Following the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Halpern emigrated to Australia. A decade later he became a naturalized Australian citizen. Based in Melbourne for much of his early career, Halpern painted bold semi-abstract works of street life. Later he traveled throughout Europe and experimented with pure abstraction and expressionistic portraiture. Australian artist and friend Arthur Boyd described Halpern's work as "original, vigorous and always arresting". Paintings, sculptures and pottery by Halpern are held in several of Australia's public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
