Why "Icebox's Yard"? Icebox was a black lab, retired therapy dog.
As he outgrew puppyhood, it became abundantly clear that while I was Queen of the Castle; he was King of the Yard.
When he was 3, he had a hip replaced. That meant he couldn't go out without me at the end of the leash and holding a butt sling. But he showed me all the things in the yard that I had been too busy to notice - tiny flowers blooming, pretty weeds, a turtle traveling through, a baby opossum living next door, etc. The Simple Things (right under our noses).
The term "Icebox's Yard" conveys to me a simple, peaceful, playful, comfortable place.
I started out selling items before I retired / moved. Downsizing 5 generations of stuff was hard. But now that is behind me - I was sewing; creating, and hopefully sharing my items with buyers who appreciate good quality, handmade in the USA items at affordable prices - no Chinese imports in my store! In 2019, I started resin art. As my fingers became increasingly troublesome, I was sewing less and pouring resin more. It became obvious that my sewing days were numbered and in 2022, there was no way I could keep up with 100 new stockings / yr.
In July 2019, we opened Icebox's Attic on Bonanza for 'other than pet' items. Beginning in 2023, The Yard has all the resin art and The Attic has the remaining soft goods (pet bows / bandanas, Christmas stockings), and misc items. Thank you for your support - I have created well over 1000 Christmas stockings in the past decade, and sold over 300 masks in 2020 (donating at least one for every one I sold). I miss sewing, but I am still creating and learning.
